X1 visa holders must apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days of entry into China; otherwise, they will be subject to a fine of up to 10,000 RMB. They can even be ordered to exit China. X1 visa holders need a physical examination report for the Permit.
Fees (for reference only): For a residence permit for study purposes, the fee is 400 RMB per 6 months, or 800 RMB per 12 months. For physical examination, the cost varies from 0 to 400 RMB, depending on the actual charge of the National Immigration Administration of China or the Inspection and Quarantine Administration of China.
X2 short term/semester visa holders do not need a physical examination.
Documentation requirements:
We only accept the following as valid identification documents for international student registration: X1 student visa, X2 student visa, or study residence permit obtained with the admission materials of BFSU, as well as the Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card. For international students who enter China through visa-free access, with a tourist visa, or with other non-study visas, or who arrive at BFSU with a study visa, a study residence permit, or other residence permits obtained with admission materials issued by an institution other than BFSU, the registration procedures shall not be completed in principle until our university has verified the documents and confirmed that all requirements are met. In such circumstances, please contact the visa affairs staff of the Overseas Students Affairs Office immediately. The final handling method shall be subject to the requirements of the National Immigration Administration of China.
