Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), located in Beijing—the capital of China—is a key university directly under the Ministry of Education of China. It is among the first batch of universities designated for the “211 Project”, the “985 Innovation Platform for Key Disciplines”, and the “Double First-Class” Initiative.
With over 80 years of development, BFSU has established its educational philosophy of International Orientation, Distinctive Features, Excellence, and Versatility, as well as its motto: Inclusiveness, Erudition, and Diligence. It has become a premier base for cultivating high-caliber professionals in diplomacy, translation, education, international business, journalism, law, finance, and other international fields. Graduates of BFSU work across China and around the world, excelling in diverse sectors as outstanding talents and social leaders. According to incomplete statistics, more than 500 BFSU alumni have served as Chinese ambassadors, and over 3,000 as counselors, earning BFSU the well-deserved reputation as the Cradle of China’s Diplomats.
In 2026, with funding and authorization from the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), Ministry of Education, BFSU launches the New Sinology Program for Foreign Master of Translation Candidates. The program aims to cultivate advanced bilingual professionals proficient in Chinese and translation skills to serve international Chinese education and related fields.
