Chinese Language Training Program
The Chinese Language Training Program is divided into three levels: Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced. Each language level has 2-3 compulsory courses. And totally more than 20 selective courses are provided.

Course Description
1. Compulsory Courses
At the beginning of each semester, the placement test will be held, and students would be divided into 9 levels from A to I,in which A,B and C are elementary levels; D,E and F are intermediate levels;And G, H and I are advanced levels. For elementary levels, two compulsory courses: Comprehensive Chinese and Spoken Chinese will be provided. For intermediate and advanced levels, Comprehensive Chinese, Spoken Chinese, Reading and Writing will be provided.
Elementary Levels (A-C)
Elementary Levels includes A, B and C. Comprehensive Chinese (Elementary) and Spoken Chinese (Elementary) will be provided. For Class A and B, you will get 12 credits for Comprehensive Chinese, if you are in Class C, you will get 10 credits. For Spoken Chinese, you will get 6 credits through the three levels.
By means of classroom learning and practice, Comprehensive Chinese (Elementary) aims at teaching students the basic vocabulary, helping students to pronounce well, forming good foundation of grammar, and enabling students to have the ability to complete the daily communication. Spoken Chinese (Elementary) aims at
helping students to master the most basic way of expression of spoken Chinese, to develop the ability of express in paragraph, through skills training, such as listening speaking, reading and writing.
Intermediate Levels (D-F)
Intermediate Levels includes D, E and F. At these levels, Comprehensive Chinese (Intermediate), Spoken Chinese (Intermediate) and Reading and Writing (Intermediate) will be provided. Students will get 6 credits respectively for Comprehensive Chinese (Intermediate) and Spoken Chinese (Intermediate), and you will get 4 credits for Writing and Reading (Intermediate). The Reading and Writing aims at helping students to enlarge the vocabulary, to master some complex grammar structure and to comprehend the cultural connotation in the text. It will help students to learn the meaning of the spoken idioms and to learn how to use them, to develop the ability of express in paragraph, to enable them to narrate, describe and discuss in more specific and complete way. Reading and Writing (Intermediate) aims to improve reading speed and to improve Chinese writing ability.
Advanced Levels (G-I)
Advanced Levels includes G, H and I. At these levels, Comprehensive Chinese (Advanced), Spoken Chinese (Advanced) and Reading and Writing (Advanced) will be provided. Students will get 6 credits respectively for Comprehensive Chinese (Advanced) and Spoken Chinese (Advanced), and they will get 4 credits for Writing and Reading (Advanced).
Comprehensive Chinese (Advanced) aims at improving the students' ability of comprehensive reading, comprehension and appreciation, expanding and deepening the amount of information on all aspects. Spoken Chinese (Advanced) aims at intensive training to enhance students’ expression skills, and to enable them to master high levels of oral expression. The Reading and Writing (Advanced) aims at the overall expansion of language, cultivating the students' ability of critical reading.
2. Selective Courses
Selective courses are provided for training language skills for all levels, including Elementary Basic Reading, Elementary Basic Composition, Basic Listening Comprehension, Intermediate Listening and Speaking, Selected Newspaper Readings, Advanced Composition, Introduction to Pronunciation, Introduction to Chinese Characters, Chinese Idioms etc. It also provides courses for cultural knowledge and experience, such as Traditional Culture in Modern China, Travel China: North to South, and special courses like Chinese for Managers, Business Chinese etc.
Meanwhile, it provides tutorial courses for New HSK for each level. Students will get 2 credits for each selective course, and its total hours are 32.
