On October 18, the 2026 Beijing Talent Mountain Hiking Festival, themed "Walking with Beijing's Talent, Meeting the Future," kicked off at the Tangu Vitality Block in Tanzhesi Town, Mentougou District. Representatives from high-tech industries, rural revitalization, university research, healthcare, and other sectors across the city, along with international talent representatives, took part in the event. Nearly 20 international students from BFSU — hailing from Brazil, Peru, Russia, Japan and other countries — were invited to attend, experiencing the vitality of China's talent ecosystem and rural revitalization along the mountain trails.

The event integrated hiking with talent exchange. The route started from the Tangu Youth Talent Vitality Block, passing through a talent market, interactive spaces, reception lounges, and a rural revitalization exhibition area, ending at the Jingxi Mountain Top Observation Platform. The talent market featured three sections — cultural creativity, intangible cultural heritage, and local cuisine — showcasing ICH artworks such as Beijing embroidery and Duoxi gourds, as well as Mentougou's national geographical indication products including skullcap tea and Jingbai pears. The adorable "Fu Bao," Mentougou's ecological mascot stationed along the route, also became a popular photo spot for students from around the world.

Each participant received a "Men Ai Cai" (Mentougou Loves Talent) mountain hiking passport, which could be stamped at checkpoints to redeem a commemorative medal and a "Blessed Land of West Beijing" cultural creative gift pack, plus free admission to Tanzhe Temple and Jietai Temple within one year. BFSU international students chatted with professionals from various industries as they walked, exchanging learning insights and innovative ideas in a relaxed atmosphere — relieving academic pressure while broadening their international horizons.

This event is a vivid practice of BFSU's commitment to cultural education and intercultural exchange and mutual learning. Stepping out of the classroom, international students gained firsthand insight into China's talent policies and development momentum in real social settings, and grasped the inner driving force of China's innovative development through face-to-face conversations with professionals across sectors. The hiking route, weaving together intangible cultural heritage, rural revitalization, and ecological conservation, enabled international students to understand the rich connotations of Chinese modernization through walking, accumulating vivid Chinese experiences for their future role as young bridges between Chinese and global civilizations.

The Overseas Students Affairs Office will continue to build diverse practical platforms, helping international students gain a deeper understanding of Chinese society and integrate into local life, growing into China-friendly, globally-minded international talent.
