On May 10, the “Lai Hua (Study in China) Cup” 2026 Badminton Invitational Tournament for International Students in Capital Universities was successfully held at China University of Geosciences, Beijing (CUGB). Thirteen BFSU international students from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Cambodia, together with one Chinese student, formed two teams and took part in the competition. Chi Xiaopeng, faculty member from Physical Education Department, served as the head coach for the two teams, providing them with professional instruction.

With striving spirit and close collaboration, the two BFSU teams achieved excellent results after several rounds of intense competition. One of the teams, in particular, advanced to the top 16 with its professional proficiency and outstanding performance. The participating students shared their feelings after the game, noting that the tournament not only served as an opportunity for them to improve their badminton skills, but also as a bridge between different cultures, through which players from different universities and cultural backgrounds could interact with each other and make progress together. During the tournament, the team members dedicated themselves to the game. They pushed their limits in the competition, and improved themselves through collaboration. Featuring the deep integration of sports competition and cultural exchange, the tournament allowed the students to build up their bodies, enhance their badminton skills, make new friends, and furthermore, understand and appreciate diverse cultures at a more profound level.

The tournament was hosted by the International Students Affairs Research Branch of Beijing Association of Higher Education and organized by China University of Geosciences, Beijing (CUGB). It attracted the participation of 39 teams (consisting of 273 Chinese and international students) from 29 universities, including Beijing Foreign Studies University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Jiaotong University, and Beijing Sport University. The tournament aimed to improve the physical and mental health of international students studying in China, and create a positive campus atmosphere marked by the diversity and harmony of cultures. In a process where international students could relax and challenge themselves, the event enhanced the interaction and communication among them, thus promoting greater exchange and further collaboration among universities.
