The relevant work and arrangements are announced as follows for the commencement of the 2022 scholarship review for international students currently enrolled at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU).

1. Types and Quota of Scholarships

Beijing Government Scholarship for international students (BGS)

Quota: 20. 16 full scholarship (free tuition for academic year 2022-2023) and 4 half scholarship (free tuition for 2022 fall semester)

undergraduate students: 10 full scholarship; 4 half scholarship

postgraduate students: 6 full scholarship

2. Qualifications of Applicants

The applicants should be international students who are officially receiving degree academic education at BFSU (non-graduate grade students) and complete the registration procedure on time;

The applicants shall be law-abiding and have no violation and other misconduct records;

The applicants shall take a positive attitude towards China and love learning;

The applicants shall be academically outstanding with good attendance records.

From June 3rd, 2022 to June 20th, 2021

4. Application Procedure

Applicants should send a scanned copy of all the application materials toscholarship@bfsu.edu.cnand indicate “Scholarship Application+Name+Student ID” in the subject line of the email.

5. Application Materials (in Chinese or English)

(1) Application Form of BFSU Scholarship for International Students;

(2) Transcript of the previous academic year (including attendance record);

(3) Other supporting application documents that the applicant deems necessary to submit, such as teachers’ reference or comments, letter(s) of recommendation, certificates of award, etc.

6. Confirmation of Scholarship Results

The scholarship selection and review is conducted through the student’s application, college recommendation and comprehensive assessment by BFSU, with its emphasis on students’ academic performance, attendance and daily performance, etc. The scholarship should be awarded to students based on the principle of merit selection, and the type and amount of scholarship will be determined accordingly. The lists of scholarship results will be publicized on this website at the end of June 2021.Awardees will only be eligible for the scholarship if no objections arise from the scholarship results until the expiry of the publicity period.

7. Special Note

7.1 BGS is established by Beijing Municipal Government to attract outstanding students to study in Beijing, especially for new international students pursuing academic degree study. Certain quotas of scholarship are provided to students currently enrolled by BFSU in order to give full play to the benefits of the scholarship and encourage students to study hard and stay positive. The quotas of scholarship will depend on the scholarship distribution of each academic year and are subject to annual public announcements. Awardees are eligible for tuition reduction and exemption. Scholarship money will not be issued in cash. Students who have already been granted scholarship for the next semester or the next academic year are not eligible to apply for the scholarship;

7.2 Students are allowed to apply both Beijing Government Scholarship for international students (BGS) and BFSU Scholarship for Outstanding International Students at the same time, but qualified applicants will be awarded only one of the two scholarships at most;

7.3 The quotas of the above mentioned scholarship types may be granted interchangeably depending on the application and review, and BFSU will not make any additional recommendations if the applicants fail to meet the required standards or are disqualified during the public announcement period;

7.4 All application materials submitted by the applicants will not be returned whether their scholarships are granted or not, and students who are not granted with scholarship will not be notified separately;

7.5 A semester-based review system shall be implemented for BGS awardees. For full scholarship awardees, their college will assess their performance at the end of the first semester of scholarship funding based on their academic performance, attendance, daily performance, etc. For those who fail to pass the assessment, their scholarship for the second semester will be cancelled.

7.6 Applicants shall be responsible for the authenticity of the materials provided, otherwise the adverse consequences occurred shall be borne by the applicant himself or herself if any fraudulent acts are found in application.
