Instructions for International Students Applying for an Endorsement of Off-Campus Internship on a Student-Type Residence Permit

I. Scope of Application

An off-campus curricular internship for international students refers to any unpaid off-campus internship (except for travel and meat allowances) undertaken by international students in accordance with the teaching plan of the university.

II. Eligibility Requirements

International students applying for off-campus curricular internships must meet all of the following requirements:

1. The applicant must be a degree-seeking international student enrolled in an undergraduate, master's, or doctoral program at Beijing Foreign Studies University, and must hold a valid student-type residence permit;

2. The internship must be related to the student's major, training program, or academic plan;

3. The student must not participate in off-campus curricular internships at two or more organizations at the same time;

4. The student must have valid insurance that covers accidental injury or relevant liability risks during the internship.

III. Application Procedures

1. School review: The student shall submit to their school the 《北京外国语大学国际学生校外实习加注申请表》(Adding Internship to Residence Permit Application Form for BFSU Overseas Students) and other required application materials. The school shall review the submitted materials. After the relevant documents are verified, the school shall sign and stamp the application form.

2. University approval: The student shall submit the application materials approved by the school, together with the internship approval certificate issued by the internship provider, to the Overseas Students Affairs Office for review. Upon approval, the Overseas Students Affairs Office will issue the 《校外实习同意函》(Letter of Consent on Off-Campus Internships for Overseas Students).

3. Procedures for the endorsement: The student shall take the relevant materials to the Exit-Entry Administration of Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau to apply for the off-campus internship endorsement on the residence permit.

IV. Important Notes

1. The off-campus internship endorsement may be processed together with the extension, change, or other procedures related to the foreigner's residence permit. The student shall submit the corresponding application materials as required;

2. International students may only start the off-campus internship after completing the relevant procedures for endorsement and obtaining the student-type residence permit with the off-campus internship endorsement;

3. During the internship, if there is any change to the internship organization, duration, or content, or if the internship is terminated early, the student shall promptly report to their school and the Overseas Students Affairs Office, and complete the relevant procedures as required;

4. If an international student participates in an off-campus internship without university approval or without completing the off-campus internship endorsement procedures in accordance with the law, the university will handle the matter in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, as well as rules of the university.

V. Requirements for Completing the《同意接收外国留学生实习证明》(Internship Approval Certificate for International Students)

When applying for an off-campus internship endorsement on the student-type residence permit, the student must submit the 《同意接收外国留学生实习证明》(Internship Approval Certificate for International Students) issued by the internship provider. The certificate must be completed strictly in accordance with the template. All required information must be accurate and complete, including the organization's name, student's name, passport number, start and end dates, internship position, internship content, official seal of the organization, and date of issuance.

1. Do not alter the template. When completing the《同意接收外国留学生实习证明》(Internship Approval Certificate for International Students), students must use the template provided by the university. All blanks in the template must be completed in full. Except for the required information in the blanks, no words, format, or wording in the template may be deleted, added, or changed. If the template is altered in any way, the application can not be accepted by the public security authorities.

2. The organization's name must be consistent. The name of the internship organization must be exactly the same in all relevant places, including:

the organization name filled in at "兹有我__________公司 (This is to certify that __________)";

the organization name filled in at the signature/seal section "(单位名称) (organization name)";

the organization name shown on the official seal affixed by the internship organization.

The above three names must be identical. Abbreviations, alternative names, or different expressions are not accepted.

3. The student"s name must be consistent with that on the passport. The student"s name in “______先生/女士 (Mr./Ms. ______)” must be filled in according to the name shown on the passport information page. The spelling, order and spaces of the name must be consistent with the information on the passport. No letters may be omitted, abbreviated, or rearranged.

4. The internship content must not include the Chinese phrase "工作 (work)". The section after "具体实习内容如下 (The specific internship content is as follows)" should clearly describe the specific internship activities that the student will participate in during the internship. The Chinese phrase "工作 (work)" must not appear in the internship content. If "工作 (work)" appears, the application can not be accepted by the public security authorities.

5. The start and end dates of the internship must meet the application requirements.

In the sentence "自____年____月____日至____年____月____日在我公司实习 (from ____ Year ____ Month ____ Day as an intern in our company)", the internship start and end dates must be filled in accurately. The internship start date shall be 15 days after the date on which the student formally submits the application to the Overseas Students Affairs Office. For final-year students, the end date must not be later than 45 days before the program end date. For all students, the end date must not be later than the expiration date of their visa.

6. The official company seal must be used The internship organization must affix its official company seal at the signature/seal section "(单位名称) (organization name)". Contract seals or any other department's seal such as the HR department seal, the finance department seal, are not accepted.

7. The date of issuance must not be later than the formal application date. The date of issuance in the lower right corner of the certificate must not be later than the date on which the student formally submits the application to the Overseas Students Affairs Office. The "formal application date" refers to the date on which the student has prepared all required materials and submits them to the Overseas Students Affairs Office. If the materials are incomplete, the application is not considered formally submitted.

8. The application must not be submitted too early. The date on which the student submits the application to the Overseas Students Affairs Office must be within a period of not more than one month before the start date of the internship.
