Preparatory Program for International Students

1. Talent Cultivation Objectives

BFSU School of International Relations and Diplomacy (SIRD) added the Preparatory Program for International Students in 2007, aiming to enroll international students who apply for SIRD undergraduate and master programs taught in Chinese but do not meet the language requirements.

During the preparatory study, training on all fronts will be offered to students including basic courses like Chinese Proficiency, Basic English, and Chinese Culture to help them meet the language requirements of the Undergraduate Program.

2. Cultivation Requirements

Qualified language competence to adapt to bilingual teaching environment in Chinese and English, including abilities in listening, speaking, reading and writing, equipped with appropriate basic knowledge of diplomacy.

3. Target Students, Study Period and Graduation

◆Target Students

New international students whose language competence does not meet the application requirements of applied programs, SIRD English-taught program international students with zero Chinese language basis in programs taught in English, and international students who would like to attend Chinese tutorials.

◆Study Period

One semester; one year

◆Graduation

A training certificate of Chinese will be granted by SIRD to those who have qualified scores of required courses, corresponding credits, and the certificate of HSK 4.

◆Qualification for direct access to undergraduate program

Students who have accomplished all teaching procedures required in cultivation plans with qualified scores will be qualified to enroll in undergraduate programs of SIRD. Students who fail to meet the requirements of graduation need to continue with their language learning until they are qualified.

4. Application Requirements

Full-time High School Diploma or Equivalent Level

Language Requirements: IELTS 5/An average score above 85 of English Classes at school or equivalent level

5. Fees

Tuition: 13000RMB/semester; 26,000 RMB/year (not including HSK fee)
