Dear International Students,

Teaching activities in the spring semester are about to begin from 2^ndMarch. Under the principle of “suspending classes without suspending teaching or learning”, lecturers of the University will teach through online platforms.

Questions of concern are answered as follows:

I. Course Arrangements

All courses of the University will be given online from 2^ndMarch. Students may log onto Blackboard via the linkhttps://bb.bfsu.edu.cn/for study onthe internal online platform. Please use the Uniform Identity Authentication System of Digital Beijing Foreign Studies University to log onto the platform.

Schools and classes have already notified and are still notifying all students through various channels about course arrangements. Please get in touch with your teachers andkeepyour channels of communication open. Make sure you answer calls from the University and check emails and Wechat messagesin time, so as to keep abreast of the detailed course arrangements of the school, including signing up for and attending courses.

Please pay attention to the following matters when studying online:

(1) As online courses may not provide you with the learning atmosphere of traditional classes, you are expected to actively immerse yourselves in online study, and complete all tasks with high quality as required by lecturers.

(2) The University has done extensive preparatory work to guarantee sound operation of the network. Notwithstanding, if faculty and students of the whole university log onto the system concurrently, the system will be under heavy pressure at that moment. Please give feedback and wait patiently in case of system failure, or communicate with lecturers by other means to solve the problem, or, if necessary, contact teachers of the school in charge of academic affairs. Relevant departments of the University will maintain the system in time to ensure smooth operation.

(3) For the respect and protection of intellectual property rights, Please do not distribute any audio and video materials, slides, and other teaching materials used in class for purposes other than study without your lecturer’s written approval.

II. Tuition Fees

(1) The exact date to return toschool will be notified later. Tuition and accommodation fees can be paid on site or by bank transfer when you return. You have full access online courses before then.

(2)(for students in Beijing only) If youneed to renewyour residence permits before the announced date to return,you are required to pay tuition by bank transfer. Please send the receipts of bank transfer tohexianfeng@bfsu.edu.cnfor verification.

III. Visa

(1) New Students

Please wait for the notice of the University, and come to China at the announcedstart time according to the latest notice. If you arrive in China in advance, the University is unable to provide you with the materials and support needed for visa extension.

(2) Current Student

Please check the expiry date of your residence permit in your passport as is shown in the picture below.

1. Students whose residence permit willexpire before 31^stMarch 2020 and who reside in Beijing currentlyshould get in touch with the Overseas Students Affairs Office three weeks before the date of expiry by sending emails tovisa@bfsu.edu.cn.For students who are living on campus, the University will prepare the visa application form and put the form at the reception of their apartments. Students who are off-campus may come to collect the form at the reception at the Main Gate of the East Campus. After collecting the form, students should personally approach Exit-Entry Administration of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Public Security to renew their residence permit.

Please bring the following documents when renewing the residence permit: passport, Registration Form of Temporary Residence for Visitors, Visa Application Form and ID photos of the applicant (2*2-inch image with white background). Applicants may go to the office directly with the documents, or make an appointment online before going to the office via the linkhttps://zwfw.gaj.beijing.gov.cn/rp/.

Office Hours: 9:00-17:00, Monday-Saturday (Information announced by the Bureau of Public Security shall prevail).

(3) The University is currently closed. Students living on campus should apply for leaving at least two days beforehand, and may not leave the campus without approval. After completing the procedure, the students should come back without delay, and may not visit or linger in other place. Please pay attention to self-protection and wear masks off the campus andin the whole process of submitting documents.

2. Students whoseresidence permit will expire before 31^stMarch 2020 and who are currently in other municipalities or provinces in China may not return to Beijing or the campus without the notice of the University. Those students may, after returning to the campus when the epidemic is over, come to the Overseas Students Affairs Office to explain the situation, and then approach the General Office for Exit and Entry of Haidian District to renew the residence permit with a letter of explanation issued by the University.

3. Students whoseresidence permit will expire before 31^stMarch 2020and who are currently abroad are required to send an email towsclxb@bfsu.edu.cn, and attach the following form with complete information. When the exact starting date is confirmed, the University will prepare new visa application documents for those who cannot return to the campus due to expiry of visa in advance. Materials will be delivered by post after two to three weeks after the application is submitted.

Please write in Chinese if the postal address is in China, and provide address in English if the materials are to be sent overseas. Format of the form is as follows:

V. Insurance

As the University is not yet open officially, students in China are required to renew their insurance online in time, so as to ensure normal medical and health services during their stay in mainland China. Procedure of insurance renewal is shown in the following pictures.

Insurance companies have enabled online claim application (Please refer to the brochure for settlement of claims for detail), in order to handle claims raised by international students amid the outbreak as normal. For any inquiries, please call the 24-hour bilingual personal service center at 400-810-5119.
