author: [time]:2020-02-25 [source]: [Times of browsing]:

Dear new students,

As you were informed, Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) has postponed the starting of Spring 2020 Semester. We have announced the previous registration dates specified in the university’s Admission Notice invalid. BFSU will inform you once the new registration date is determined, and leave enough time for your itinerary arrangement. Students are requested NOT to arrive at school until further notice. Those who arrive before further notice, please be aware that NO registration procedures will be processed including curriculum, dormitory, residence/stay permit arrangements. We sincerely hope to have your kind understanding and cooperation in this.

BFSU will do its best to reduce the inconvenience brought to you by the postponement. Frequently asked questions are now answered as below:

I.For those who wish to still register for the 2020 Spring Semester

Q1: Will BFSU provide online courses for new students?

Teaching activities need to be based on students’ academic abilities. As new students have not been officially registered and allocated to individual classes, online teaching of common courses will not be provided. However, please stay in close contact with your tutor for academic instructions and to follow up online course information of your major and School.

School of International Relations and Diplomacy:xujiaqi2019@bfsu.edu.cn

Q2: I currently hold a student visa which will expire on March 25th. What should I do about my visa if the semester starts later than March 25th?

BFSU will send new Admission Notice, Form of Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 Form) and other related documents by post to those who cannot travel due to visa expiration. The documents will be ready and reach you in about 2-3 weeks. If you are still unable to register on time owing to problems related to visa or air ticket booking, please send an email totangxia@bfsu.edu.cn to apply for a delayed registration.

II.For those who wish to cancel Spring 2020 Semester

Q3: Is the application fee refundable if I wish to cancel registration for Spring 2020 Semester?

We are sorry to say that application fee is not refundable and we have stated it clearly in the Admission Guide. You can apply for an admission deferment to register for Fall 2020 Semester, or enjoy an application fee waiver for one future application.

Q4: Can I have a refund of the tuition fee if I have paid by bank remittance but wish to cancel registration for Spring 2020 Semester?

The tuition fee can be transferred to Fall 2020 Semester, or you can apply for a refund. All transfer or refund applications should be submitted before Spring 2020 Semester begins.

If you have paid the tuition fee by bank remittance, before BFSU settles with the bank (you can confirm that with your bank), you can apply to cancel the remittance. If any supporting material is needed from BFSU, please do not hesitate to contact us. If the settlement has been completed, please provide us the remittance slip and personal information (passport name and passport number). We will return the remittance to the original account. You will be contacted if other materials are needed.

III.For those who wish to postpone admission to Fall 2020 Semester

Q5: Can I change to register for Fall 2020 Semester if I am a self-funded student? If so, do I need to pay application fee again?

You can apply for an admission deferment and register for Fall 2020 Semester, and no more application fee will be charged. If the tuition fee has already been paid, it can be transferred to Fall 2020 Semester. BFSU will mail out new Admission Notice, Form of Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 Form) and other related documents.
