LSSAircraft is flying objects with flight levels below 1000m, airspeed less than200km, and radar reflection area smaller than 2sqm. LSS Aircraft has 12 main categories such as light and ultra-light Aircraft (including light and ultra-light helicopters), gliders, hang gliders, powered hang gliders, manned balloons (hot air balloon), airship, paragliders, powered paragliders, drones, model aircraft, unmanned free balloons, and captive balloons, etc.

Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau issued the Notice of Beijing MunicipalPublic Security Bureau on Strengthening LSS Aircraft Management in Beijing. From 08:00 on September 20 2019，to 18:00 on October 2 2019，temporary controlled airspace will be delineated, covering the whole administrative area of Beijing and extending from the ground to infinitely high. All work units, organizations and individuals will be banned from any sports-related, recreational, and advertising flying activities or balloon release. Other flying activities must be approved by the army and airspace control departments of civil aviation before carried out.

Besides, according to the Notice of BanningProduction, Sales, and Flying of Kongming Lanterns in Beijing Region issued in2014, the production, sales and flying of Kongming Lanterns are banned in the administrative area of Beijing as well. Work units and individuals who produce, sell and fly Kongming Lantern sun lawfully will be brought to justice by relevant departments. If the situation is so severe that an offence is committed, the law-breakers will be prosecuted for criminal responsibility according to law.
