Dear International students,
Please note the following reminder on use of electric bicycles, according to theRegulatory Measures of Beijing Municipality for Registration and Passage of Electric Bicycles in Transitional Periodwith effects from 17thOctober 2018 and theRegulations of Beijing Municipality on Management of Non-Motor Vehicleswith effects from 1stNovember 2018:
I. Students should buy e-bikes that meet the new national quality standard and are listed in theCatalogue of Electric Bicycle Products of Beijing Municipality. Students who apply for registration of e-bikes should submit the application to public security and traffic authorities within 15 days since the date of purchase. E-bikes purchased before 1stNovember 2018 should be registered no later than 30thApril 2019.
II. E-bikes listed in the Catalogue will be issued with driving permits and license plates, while that not in the Catalogue, that are e-bikes fail to meet the quality standard, will be issued with temporary permits by traffic management authorities, which are valid for three years as transitional period. In this transitional period, those e-bikes may not be ridden on the road without the temporary permits. Riders shall observe general rules of non-motor vehicles. Those e-bikes may not be ridden on the road upon expiry of the transitional period.
III. Since 1stMay 2019, e-bikes on the road not being registered or without license plates will be impounded by traffic management authorities and their riders will be fined 20 RMB. For anyone caught riding with forged or altered license plates or license plates, driving permits or temporary permits of other bicycles, the vehicle will be taken away permanently with a fine of RMB 1,000.
IV. E-bikes should be ridden on bicycle lanes and may not exceed the speed of 15 km/h. Please do not exceed the speed limit and ensure safe riding.
V. Students are not allowed to enter BFSU campus by driving automobiles, e-bikes, e-motorcycles or motorcycles.
