Dear students,
A year’s plan starts with spring. As the spring semester begins, we hope you can keep building safety awareness and pay extra attention to the following during your study:
Fire safety
Spring, a season with dry weather, has a frequent occurrence of fire accidents. Please obey international student accommodation regulations and take precautions when using electricity. Do not move or damage fire safety equipment. Do not store flammable, explosive, toxic, hazardous or other dangerous items. Do not smoke in the dormitory building. Do not use prohibited appliances such as electric blankets and rechargeable batteries of electric bicycles. Never leave cooking in a public kitchen unattended. Shut off power when leaving a room. Do not use electrical appliances or charge electrical devices when there is no one in the room. Wire connections without permission and high-power electrical appliances are forbidden. Unplug charging cables for mobile phones and tablets before leaving them unattended. Burning wastes after cleanup inside the dormitory are strongly forbidden in case of fire accidents.
Traffic safety
China has right-hand traffic. As road traffic is very complicated in Beijing, please do beware of traffic and follow traffic rules. Do not take illegal taxis. Do not ride motorbikes or unlicensed electric bicycles. No drunk driving. Do not give somebody a ride.
Take public transport or legal taxis at night if possible. Be cautious when booking a taxi online. Be better to travel with a companion and avoid being alone.
On alert against Internet and telecom fraud
Nowadays, fraud comes in various forms through the Internet or telecom and international students are highly likely to become victims. We hope that you can raise anti-fraud awareness, never add Wechat strangers at will, do not fall for fraudulent information of part-time sales jobs from WeChat groups, fraudulent tricks from fake Taobao or aviation customer services, the scam of “guess who I am”, nor people pretending to be workers from the police, procuratorate, or the court. Make sure you “do not trust or contact the suspicious, never fall for their tricks” to prevent property loss.
No disease and good health
In early spring, weather is still chilly and the diurnal temperature variation is still big. As all kinds of bacteria and viruses are active in this season, there is a high incidence of infectious diseases such as influenza and allergic diseases. Please maintain a regular lifestyle and good personal hygiene habits. Ventilate the dormitory room and the place for learning regularly. Keep a balanced diet and pay attention to food safety. Do more physical exercises to boost your immune system.
At last, please keep in mind the emergency hotlines. Call campus security 88812110 or 88816213 in case of emergency on campus, and call 110 or 120 in case of an emergency off campus.
We wish you safe and healthy, and have a rewarding spring semester!
