I. Insurance Scheme.
1. International students in China must buy insurance.
According to the regulation of the University, degree students, language students and exchange students are required to join the Group Comprehensive Insurance and Protection Scheme of China’s Mainland, and the insurance policy is one of the required documents for enrollment at the beginning of each semester. The insurance undertakes the following insurance liabilities, including death insurance, accidental disability insurance, in-patient medical insurance, accidental medical care, outpatient and emergency medical care, etc. For details of the coverage and liability exemption, please refer to the “Introduction to Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme for Foreigners Staying in China”.
2. Guidance for insurance purchase
During the period for international student enrollment, personnel of the insurance company will come to the University to collect the insurance premiums and handle the procedures for insurance purchase. After enrollment, for the convenience and security of international students and to reduce the risks of students who are not covered by the insurance, staff of the Office of International Students of the University will be authorized to handle the procedure for insurance purchase online and collect the premiums. Students who have bought the insurance will be given a receipt for purchase.
Students may also purchase the insurance online through the website (www.lxbx.net). Foreign card payment is accessible. After successful completion of payment, an electronic receipt will be given.
3. International students who have been covered by insurance
International students who are already covered by insurance in their home countries are required to join the Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme for Foreigners Staying in China, and those who have already bought insurance in China’s Mainland according to the regulation should show the original copy of the insurance policy.
4. Premium
The premium of the insurance is 800 RMB for one year and 400 RMB for half a year. Please refer to the “Introduction to Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme for Foreigners Staying in China” for details.
II. Insurance Service.
1. Students are kindly requested to read through the “Introduction to Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme for Foreigners Staying in China” and know about the insurance coverage and liability exemption before buying the insurance. The details can be found on the website (www.lxbx.net/personal).
2. The service hotline is available for 24 hours: 400-810-5119 in case the student who buys the insurance suffers from some physical discomforts or is in need of medical guidance or hospitalization advances, or has some inquiries about compensation.
3. Students who buy the insurance can take photos to upload claim materials and apply for claims through the website (www.lxbx.net) or WeChat official account "来华留学保险”.
III. Notes.
1. Make sure to call 4008105119 in advance to make a diagnosis inquiry before seeing a doctor.
2. Congenital diseases, pre-existing diseases and driving without a license or permit are not covered by the Insurance.
3. Insurance for international students covers treatment in public hospitals (excluding international department) and general departments. Treatment in private hospitals, special wards in public hospitals, wards for foreign patients, wards for senior officials, VIP wards and equivalence，is not covered.
4. Depending on the circumstances of the visit, if partial hospitalization deposit is required, the student should make the payment first. Upon completion of the treatment, reimbursement of the costs of treatment covered by the insurance can be claimed.
5. The insurance does not cover out-of-pocket expenses. If out-of-pocket expenses incurred during treatment, the student will have to pay by themselves.
6. Notice on the effective date of the insurance: insurance for international student group in the University comes into effects from 25th August or 25th February, other than the date of payment.
