The Institute for Global History at Beijing Foreign Studies University was established in 2014. In 2017, the School of History was founded based on the Institute for Global History. The school’s primary emphasis lies on the historical processes that have shaped the world since the Age of Exploration, as well as China’s unique historical path. The institution is dedicated to investigating how civilizations, as interconnected and subjective entities, have profoundly influenced the trajectory of world history through their interactions. Additionally, it seeks to comprehend the intricate patterns of interaction and coexistence between China and other global civilizations from the vantage point of civilization history. The School of History and the Institute for Global History at Beijing Foreign Studies University comprises 17 faculty members dedicated to teaching and researching world history. All of these scholars hold doctoral degrees. This comprises 3 full professors, 2 of whom are members of the German National Academy of Sciences, along with 8 associate professors and 6 assistant professors. The institute recruits instructors specializing in the histories of different countries and regions, with expertise in various languages. It provides courses on both regional and national histories. Additionally, the institute actively engages in international academic collaboration, regularly inviting esteemed historians from around the globe to teach courses and deliver lectures at BFSU each year.

2.The School is eligible to offer master’s degree programme, focusing on four research directions: Regional & National History, General and Specialised History of the World, China in Global History, History of China's Relations with Neighboring States and Regions.
3.The doctoral degree programme relies on a major in Comparative Literature and Intercultural Studies with a focus on China in Global History.
