School of International Journalism and Communication
School of International Journalism and Communication (SIJC), featuring its international and transcultural education ideas, can date back to the early exploration and discipline construction in Journalism at the BFSU Department of English and International Studies in 1981.
Adhering to the idea of “connecting China with the outside world”, SIJC aims to cultivate students with multilingual, multidisciplinary, and multimedia skills, as well as international communication competence which are urgently required for transcultural understandings in current globalization contexts. Being social practitioners of diverse transcultural media communication, SIJC graduates hold positions mostly in domestic and international media institutions, governmental agencies, and international enterprises. Most alumni devote themselves to the fields of journalism, editing, public relations, advertising, public service and administration, etc.
By far, SIJC has established its master’s program in English for overseas students, providing integrated courses including international journalism, global media, Chinese language, and transcultural communication, together with multi-layered internship opportunities in media and communication realms at home and abroad. In addition, a Chinese-English bilingual bachelor's degree program and a doctoral degree program are also established. As China’s participation and devotion to global governance over times, graduates of our school with global communication competence, global culture awareness, and international communication strategies will undoubtedly become constructive professionals and social constructors in the arena of international communication.
