The School of International Relations and Diplomacy (SIRD) consists of academic and research institutes such as the Department of Diplomacy, the Institute for International Issues, the Editorial Office for International Forum, the Center for Public Diplomacy Studies,the Center for Gender and Global Studies, the Center for East-West Relations,the Research Center of the United Nations and International Organizations etc. It is also one of the training bases for diplomatic talents in China, an important academic center for international studies as well as a special think-tank for foreign policy consultation.

Program Features

SIRD offers four levels of academic programs: bachelor’s, double-degree, master’s and doctoral programs.

SIRD, authorized to offer master’s program for political science, afirst gradediscipline, can recruit graduate students for five second grade disciplines: Chinese and Foreign Political Systems, International Relations, International Political Science, Diplomacy, and Public Diplomacy.

SIRD owns the only self-authorized master program in China for Public Diplomacy, a second-grade discipline.

Diplomacy in SIRD is a national level discipline and SIRD is the first in China to offer this discipline.

SIRD enjoys advantages in research over Chinese issues, major-country relationship and diplomacy, national and regional diplomacy, public diplomacy, and United Nations and international organizations etc.

With a faculty team made up of Chinese and foreign experts, SIRD enjoys striking advantages in building multi-tiered and cross-disciplinary practice-based teaching system as well as cultivating talents for diplomacy and foreign affairs with dual majors and languages.

Don’t know Chinese? It’s OK! The language will never be an obstacle towards studying.

SIRD adopts converged management: international students having classes with Chinese classmates, enriching international social contacts of students.

SIRD offers rich opportunities for social practices and for learning Chinese culture, as well as internship and job opportunities in Chinese think tank teams.
