Beijing Foreign Studies University, or BFSU, is one of China’s top universities under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education (MOE) of China. Located in Beijing, the university is listed under China’s Project 211 (Chinese government’s new endeavor aimed at strengthening about 100 institutions of higher education and key disciplinary areas as a national priority for the 21st century), Project 985 Innovation Platform (a constructive project for founding world-class universities in the 21st century conducted by the government of China) and the Double First-Class Initiative (program to develop a number of world-class universities and disciplines). Having a wealth of expertise in foreign affairs and guided by the motto “Learn with an open mind; Serve a great cause”, BFSU fosters a significant number of professionals with strong language competence who go on to work in and outside China, with remarkable achievements, as diplomats, translators/interpreters, educators, entrepreneurs, journalists, lawyers, and bankers, among other occupations. Since the Ministry of Education established the "Silk Road" Chinese Government Scholarship program in 2017, BFSU has been a dedicated institution for cultivating scholarship students. It has continuously deepened its commitment to training non-universal language translators and interpreters from "Belt and Road" countries. Using language as a bridge and culture as a medium, BFSU fosters new forces for linguistic communication and cultural dissemination, aiming to enhance Sino-foreign exchanges, promote international cooperation, and contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
