From November 1 to 2. the "Gathering at Quzhou: Beauty in Harmony" Southern Confucianism International Exchange was held in the city of Quzhou, Zhejiang Province. A delegation of BFSU international students, accompanied by faculty members, was invited to participate. Through site visits and hands-on cultural experience sessions, they explored the roots of Southern Confucianism and gained a deeper appreciation for the depth and vitality of traditional Chinese culture.

During the event, the students visited the Temple of Southern Confucianism, where they learned about its unique architectural layout and profound history. At the Chinese Confucianism Museum, they explored cultural relics and reconstructed historical scenes that illustrated the legacy and life of Confucius and his disciples. Guided by museum staff, they also tried traditional craft techniques such as brushing, paper pressing, and rubbing, experiencing the unique character of traditional craftsmanship and observing Chinese cultural artistry firsthand.

The delegation also visited Yudong Village in Kecheng District and the Shuitingmen Historic and Cultural Block, where they engaged with local folk artists and learned about the everyday wisdom and artistic expression embodied in farmers’ paintings. They also traced the journey of the Confucius family’s southward migration, gaining insight into how Confucian thought has been passed down among the public over generations.

The Southern Confucianism International Exchange served as a valuable platform for cross-cultural engagement for our students and faculty. The mobile classroom experience deepened international students’ understanding of traditional Chinese culture and contributed to the international dissemination of Southern Confucianism, bringing new energy to cultural exchange and mutual learning.
