On the evening of September 9, in Terrace Classroom 3 of Sir Run Run Shaw Building on the East Campus, the Overseas Students Affairs Office held the 2025 Fall International Student Orientation & Safety Lecture for over 500 new international students from 90 countries and regions. The event aimed to familiarize these new students with Chinese laws and regulations, as well as the rules and regulations of BFSU, and enhance their safety awareness.

Jiang Ying, Deputy Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office and Associate Dean of the Overseas Students Affairs Office, delivered a speech on behalf of the Overseas Students Affairs Office. Based on her real-life experiences, she stressed how important it is for international students to understand and observe Chinese laws and regulations, as well as the rules and regulations of BFSU. She noted that “understanding and observing laws and regulations exhibits your sense of responsibility towards yourselves, others and society as a whole”. The lecture was hosted by Kai Lin, Head of the Administration Department, Overseas Students Affairs Office. Quan Xin, Deputy Head of BFSU Security Department, Sun Gang and Wang Renjie, police officers from the Exit and Entry Administration Division of Haidian Public Security Bureau, as well as insurance and visa experts, all gave speeches on their specialized topics. Some faculty members in charge of international student affairs were also invited to the lecture on behalf of their schools.


Quan Xin offered specific advice on traffic safety, fire safety, private property protection and campus regulations. Based on typical foreign-related cases, Wang Renjie conducted a detailed analysis of foreign-related laws and regulations, and let the new students perceive potential risks directly and learn precautionary measures through realistic simulation. Insurance expert Zhao Zhenyi explained insurance knowledge closely related to new students on six dimensions: insurance liability, claims instructions, usage methods, purchase inquiries, safety reminders and liability exemptions. The audience interacted actively with the speakers, creating a lively atmosphere for the whole process of the lecture.





This orientation session effectively deepened new international students’ understanding of Chinese laws and regulations, as well as the rules and regulations of BFSU, further enhancing their awareness of safety and self-protection. Moreover, through the provision of practical knowledge, it could help new students accommodate to campus environment and college life more quickly, laying a solid foundation for the creation of a safe, harmonious and civilized campus atmosphere.
