On November 17, the 8th Wushu Competition for International Students from Beijing Colleges and Universities in 2024 successfully kicked off.
This year’s competition was hosted by the Federation of University Sports of Beijing (FUSB), organized by Beijing Language and Culture University, and co-organized by FUSB Sports Society of International Students. 141 international student athletes from 17 universities in Beijing including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing Institute of Technology and Beijing Foreign Studies University participated in over 20 events, where they showcased their martial arts skills and engaged in friendly exchanges.
After fierce competition, AHOASI KOBLAN ARTHUR YOSSI, a Beninese international student from BFSU School of Chinese Language and Literature stood out among all the skilled athletes and ranked 5th in the optional Changquan (Long Fist) event of males. Meanwhile, LIU Baogui from the Department of Physical Education was awarded the title of “Excellent Coach”, and BFSU received the honorary title of “Outstanding Organization”.
As a competition which has been successfully held for eight consecutive years, the Wushu Competition for International Students from Beijing Colleges and Universities provides a platform for students from various countries to compete, showcase their skills and make friends. It has greatly promoted international students’ understanding of China's rich traditional culture and has become popular among faculty and students.
