On October 22, 2024, the 2024 Campus Orienteering Invitational Competition for International Students in Capital Universities and Colleges took place at China University of Geosciences (Beijing) at 1:00 PM. A team of 12 international students from the School of Chinese Language and Literature at BFSU, hailing from Vietnam, Thailand, Russia and other countries participated in the event.
On the day of the competition, representatives gathered at designated time and location for check-in and equipment distribution. Teams then followed a mapped orienteering route to find check-in points and complete tasks. In addition to accumulating points for finding check-in locations, participants could also opt to undertake additional challenges for bonus points, including rope-skipping relay, charades, badminton transport relay, and Chinese culture quiz. The competition tested not only speed and orientation skills but also incorporated elements of fun and knowledge.
BFSU international student team achieved outstanding results amid fierce competition. After the event, participants expressed their view that the competition was not only a test of athletic prowess but also a valuable experience in cultural exchange and teamwork. They made friends from diverse countries and cultural backgrounds while enjoying the thrill of orienteering and pushing their bodies to the limit. Hopefully we will see these students showcasing their talents and strengths on more platforms in the future.
The competition was organized by China Association for International Education under the Beijing Association of Higher Education and hosted by China University of Geosciences (Beijing). It was joined by 28 teams with over 160 participants from 18 universities in Beijing, including Beijing Foreign Studies University, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beihang University, Minzu University of China, and Beijing Sport University. Through the challenging and enjoyable orienteering activity, the competition enables international students to relax and challenge themselves, enhances communication and interaction among students from different universities, and provides a platform for exchanges among the capital universities and colleges.
