On September 27, the 2024 Beijing International Congress on Science Education was held at the Beijing Science Center. The conference was sponsored by the Beijing Association for Science and Technology and organized by the Beijing Science Center, the Beijing Youth Science and Technology Center, the Graduate School of Education at Peking University, the Graduate School of Education at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), and the Affiliated High School of Peking University (BDFZ). Over 20 international student representatives from BFSU participated in the event.
The theme of this Congress was “Science Education: Sharing, Innovation, and Development.” Notable attendees included He Jinsong, Level Ⅰ Bureau Rank Official of the Beijing Association for Science and Technology; Su Dapeng, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party of China Committee at BFSU; Yan Fengqiao, Dean of the Graduate School of Education at Peking University; Ma Yuguo, Principal of the Affiliated High School of Peking University (BDFZ); Professor Arumugam Nallanathan from Queen Mary University of London;and Carolina Sangga, a science teacher from the Philippines.
In his speech, Su Dapeng emphasized that science education is not just about individual growth, but also crucial for national competitiveness and sustainable development. He called for nurturing young people’s spirit of innovation and practical skills, aiming to cultivate more individuals with scientific literacy and innovative awareness for society.
At the Congress, over 150 experts, scholars, and front-line teachers from various countries and regions in the field of science education shared their research and practical achievements through a combination of online and on-site participation. They engaged in in-depth discussions about the current state of science education, its challenges and opportunities, and future development trends, collectively exploring new pathways for science education.
More than 20 international student representatives from our school, hailing from countries such as Japan, Ghana, Austria, and the Czech Republic, participated fully in the conference. By attending the event and sharing theoretical and practical experience, the students deepened their understanding of science education, broadened their international perspectives, and gained valuable experience for their future studies and research.
