On the afternoon of November 3rd, the final round of the first Beijing Student Broadcasting and Hosting Contest, aka “New Voice of the Times” took place at Guanyunge, Beijing Broadcasting Tower. Thappavong Souksavath, an international student from Laos, a member of our speech team, has attended the competition on behalf of our school and won the bronze medal.
The contest was intended to select and cultivate broadcasting and hosting talents for the new era. It has also provided a platform for students in Beijing who major in Journalism and Communication, Arts, Broadcasting and Hosting to share their experiences and exchange ideas. The selection and cultivation of those broadcasting and hosting talents will hopefully contribute to the boom of the capital’s radio and television industry. Prize-winners in this contest will be recommended to the national “Cross-Strait Hosting Contest”.
The contest was hosted by China Education Television, Beijing Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Beijing People's Broadcasting Station, Beijing TV Artists Association, and co-organized by the Beijing University Student Work Society. It was divided into four rounds: auditions, preliminaries, semi-finals, and finals. Chen Hong, Deputy Director of China Education TV Station, Zhao Baole, a well-known program producer from CCTV, Wang Qiu, Chief Editor from Beijing People's Broadcasting Station, and Zhang Zequn, a well-known host from CCTV, served as judges of the contest. Over 100 students from more than 20 universities including the Communication University of China, Central Academy of Drama, and BFSU have signed up for the contest. Three students from our school have signed up. Two entered the preliminaries, and one made it to the finals and won the bronze medal.
