On May 11, 2019, our university successfully held central division preliminary round of the 8th “Chinese Language Star” Contest for international students in Beijing. The venue was in the School of Chinese Language and Literature. About 100 international students from 13 colleges and universities in Beijing participated in the competition and showed their high level of proficiency in the Chinese language.

The contest was carried out smoothly with the organization and assistance of the International Student Office and volunteers.

“Chinese Language Star” Contest is initiated by Beijing Municipal Education Committee to promote Chinese culture, share the results of Chinese language teaching, improve the Chinese language competence of international students in Beijing, and deepen their understanding of Beijing’s people, history, and culture. It has been successfully held for seven sessions and has become an influential contest among international students in Beijing or even the whole country. This year, the contest has attracted more than 1,000 international students in Beijing.
