BFSU Students Awarded at the 2nd Beijing International Student Calligraphy Culture Festival

At 10 am on 24 December 2018, the 2nd Beijing International Student Calligraphy Culture Festival was unveiled at the Qi Gong Academy Gallery, Beijing Normal University. The festival attracted 100 more international students from over 30 countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Benin, Russia, Italy, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Japan and South Korea. Many students showed strong interest in Chinese calligraphy. They not only finished their work carefully but also fully experienced the unique charm of Chinese traditional culture. Finally, 40 works were awarded the first, second and third prize after careful evaluation by experts in Qi Gong Academy. One first prize winner, two-second prize winners and three third prize winners were from BFSU, making BFSU the second best among the participating universities.

Beijing International Student Calligraphy Culture Festival dates back to 2017. It was first established under the instruction of the Qi Gong Academy of Beijing Normal University to disseminate and teach Chinese calligraphy for international students, based on the Chinese character courses of Beijing Foreign Studies University and Beijing Normal University. During the activity, Qi Gong Academy of Beijing Normal University would send teachers into universities in Beijing to teach international students Chinese calligraphy and help them practice. Participants of the festival are usually universities excellent in international student affairs. And participants this year include Beijing Foreign University, Beijing Normal University, Beijing Language and Culture University, Capital Normal University etc.

Education Counselor Abdul Aziz How Abdullah of the Embassy of Malaysia in China, Vice Dean Yu Le of Beijing Normal University, officers of schools and departments and all prize winners and international student participants were present at the ceremony.
