The Office for Overseas Students Affairs of the University organized more than 90 international students to watch The Legend of Kungfu, a big stage action performance, on 21stMarch 2018.
The Legend ofKungfu,is a show integrating multiple art elements, including Chinese martial arts, acrobatics and dance, that is performed regularly. Since its launch in 2004, it has been successfully presented 2,630 times at Beijing Red Theatre, and over a thousand times for profit-making purpose at home and abroad. It is the only commercial show that presented regularly inChina,and performed overseas in the meanwhile.
Cheerful international students busily took group photos as soon as they arrived at the entrance of thetheaterbefore appreciating the unique charm of the Chinese culture on that day.
In the past centuries, on the vast territory of China, themarvelousMount Song, Mount Hua and Mount Wudang have witnessed countless legends of Chinese Kungfu.
The students were totally overwhelmed by the stunning Kungfu techniques and various schools of ChineseKunfu. What makes the performance fascinating is the combination of multiple art elements, including Ballet, acrobatics and modern dance. The philosophy embodied in the story of Chunyi Monk also impressed thestudents,and enhanced their understanding of Chinese culture.
Chinese Kungfu, which has set foot on global stage, opens an essential window for European and American audiences to understand the Chinese culture. Kungfu is going beyond the Chinese society and has been a general symbol of cultural inheritance.
